Frequently asked questions
Short answers. If something's not here, write to hello@summiva.com.
The basics
Who is Summiva for?
Parents and guardians of children aged 3 to 12. You set goals; you do the activities together with your child. Children themselves don't have accounts and never see the app.
What domains can I pick?
Chess, swimming, music (with instrument-specific guidance for piano, violin, guitar, voice, drums, ukulele), reading, math (school-aligned, Singapore Math, Trachtenberg, Vedic), public speaking, and foreign languages (8 languages at launch). More coming.
How many goals can I set?
As many as you want on the paid tier. Free accounts get 1 goal for 1 child so you can try the experience end-to-end before paying.
How long are the activities?
Session length scales with your child's age, never tier. A 3 year old gets 5 to 15 minute sessions even on the most ambitious tier. A 9 year old can handle 20 to 50 minutes. We don't generate 60-minute drills for toddlers, regardless of how serious the family wants to be.
How the AI works
What AI does Summiva use?
Anthropic's Claude. We send the AI a prompt that includes your child's first name, age, the goal, the chosen tier, the relevant curriculum source (FIDE, ABRSM, etc.), and a summary of how last week went. The AI returns next week's checklist with a one-line "why this matters" for each item.
Does the AI train on my child's data?
No. Anthropic does not retain or train on data sent through their API under their commercial terms. We've designed the system around that guarantee.
How accurate is the AI?
It's helpful, but it gets things wrong. Sometimes a suggested activity is a stretch for your specific child, or a reference is slightly off, or the suggestion doesn't fit your home setup at all. Think of it as a well-read friend who hasn't seen your living room. Use your own judgment. If a week feels off, regenerate it or leave a note in the app, and the following week's plan will reflect what you said.
What if my child is way ahead, or behind, the typical pace?
Each curriculum has 5 stages spanning ages 3 to 12. Your child's stage moves up when they consistently crush the current week's content, and quietly steps back when they're really struggling. Plans are written against their actual stage, not their calendar age. So a 4 year old reading at a 7 year old's level gets stage-3 reading content, and a 9 year old still building water confidence gets stage-1 swimming content. The point is to meet your child where they actually are.
What happens if Claude is down or the request fails?
Generation either succeeds or fails cleanly. There's no partial state. Next week's plan won't appear that day, and you can try again. We log failures privately so we can fix what went wrong.
Data and privacy
What data do you collect about my child?
First name, date of birth (used to compute age), goals, and your progress notes/ratings. That's it. No last name, no photos, no school, no contacts, no location, no health data. The full list is in the Privacy Policy.
Can I delete everything?
Yes. Open the app → Settings → Delete account. We delete your account, child profiles, goals, and progress logs from our active database within 30 days. Subscription/tax records are kept for 7 years (Indian tax law) but those are anonymised transaction lines, not personal data.
Where is the data stored?
Supabase servers in US-East. Encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. Access to production requires multi-factor authentication.
Do you sell or share data?
No. We don't sell, share, or rent data. We use service providers (Supabase, Anthropic, Apple, RevenueCat, PostHog, Sentry) strictly to operate the app, and they're contractually limited to that. There are no advertising or behavioural-tracking partners.
Pricing
How much does Summiva cost?
See the Pricing page for the current tiers. Short version: free tier with 1 goal, monthly and annual subscriptions for unlimited, and a one-time Founder's Lifetime offering for the first 1,000 buyers.
What's the Founder's Lifetime?
A one-time payment that gives you Summiva access for the lifetime of the service. Limited to the first 1,000 buyers globally. After that's full, only monthly and annual subscriptions remain. It exists because launch capital matters and lifetime users are some of the best long-term feedback partners.
Are subscription refunds possible?
Subscription refunds go through Apple under their standard policy. We can't issue them directly because Apple processes the payment. The Lifetime offering is refundable within 14 days of purchase via Apple, and final after that.
Does the price change?
We may change prices for new subscribers at any time. Existing subscribers get at least 30 days' notice in-app and by email before any price increase, with the option to cancel before the new price takes effect. Lifetime entitlements are never affected by future price changes.
The app itself
Is there an Android version?
Not at launch. iOS first because that's where I (Anand) ship reliably. Android is on the radar after the iOS app is stable and we've fixed the issues only real users surface.
Does it work offline?
Reading the current week works offline once it's loaded. Generating a new week needs the internet (the AI lives on a server). Sync happens automatically when you reconnect.
How often does the plan refresh?
Automatically every Saturday morning in your time zone (paid tier). You can also tap "Get next week's plan" any time to refresh on demand. Paid users get 30 manual refreshes per month across all goals.
I'm not in India. Will it still work for me?
Yes. Summiva is in English and the curriculum sources are international (FIDE, ABRSM, Lexile, CEFR, etc.). The app is launching globally on day one, with prices adjusted for local purchasing power.
Other
Can I suggest a domain or feature?
Please. Email hello@summiva.com. The current roadmap is informed by user feedback more than anything else.
Is Summiva affiliated with FIDE / ABRSM / Suzuki / etc?
No. We reference these names because they're the public curriculum frameworks our AI grounds against. We're not endorsed by them and we don't claim to be.
What happens if I cancel my subscription?
Your data is never deleted. Your account, all your children, all goals, and your full history remain stored in your account. While you're on the free plan, the app displays only your first child and their first goal, to keep the free experience focused. Everything else is preserved and immediately re-appears the moment you re-subscribe.
If you want to permanently delete data instead, use Settings → Delete account inside the app.
